Case study
Time-Critical Global Logistics Management Platform
Our engineers hardened, migrated and extended a logistics management platform used by a global agent network and 1,500+ corporate accounts: OWASP security work, a move to Azure, flight recommendations and live order tracking.
The client
The client moves time-critical and high-value shipments worldwide, where a late or lost package is a serious business problem. Its platform connects internal staff, corporate customers and a global network of courier agents across three portals, and links to airlines, flight data services, CRM, mapping and IoT tracking devices. Every transaction is business-critical.
The challenge
- Bring a large, business-critical platform in line with OWASP security guidance.
- Move databases and background processing to Azure without disrupting live operations.
- Help planners choose the right flights for each shipment.
- Give customers and staff accurate, up-to-date order tracking.
What we did
Our engineers work on the platform across its three portals: the operations system, the customer web portal and the partner portal. The team applied OWASP security enhancements, migrated the databases to Azure SQL, and moved scheduled and background work to Azure Functions and Azure Service Bus. It built flight recommendations on live flight data and a new order-tracking experience. The customer portal runs as five microservices behind an API gateway. The team uses AI coding assistants in its daily workflow to deliver faster on a large, long-running codebase.
What it does
Operations system
Order management and dispatch for internal staff, handling time-critical shipments end to end.
Customer portal
Corporate customers book, manage and track shipments; five microservices behind a gateway.
Partner portal
The global agent network accepts and updates jobs.
Flight recommendations
Suggested flight options for each shipment, based on live flight schedules and status.
Live order tracking
A rebuilt tracking experience using flight data, maps and IoT tracking devices.
Integrations
Airline cargo systems, flight data, CRM, EDI, fax, SMS and email, maps and distance, toll costs, IoT trackers, SSO and product analytics.
Mobile apps
Apps published on both major app stores.
How it is built
- Three portals over 5 databases and 450+ tables.
- 63 projects in the operations and partner solutions; the customer portal has 1 gateway and 5 microservices.
- 7 timer-triggered Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus messaging and Redis caching.
- Microsoft SSO, application performance monitoring and OWASP-aligned security controls.
Results
- The platform's databases and background jobs now run on Azure.
- Security improved in line with OWASP guidance.
- Planners get flight recommendations, and customers get more reliable live tracking.
- Supports a global agent network, 1,500+ corporate accounts and up to 5,000 daily active users.
AI-ready by design.
Where AI fits next.
Our team already uses AI coding assistants to deliver faster on this large codebase. The platform's operational data opens the next step: AI in the product itself.
Flag shipments at risk of missing a deadline before they do.
Rank flight options using past performance, not just schedules.
Answer "where is my shipment?" instantly from live tracking data.
One to two weeks to pick the use case and prove the data is ready.
